Clamping
The Mecal Geos-5 is equipped standard with advanced MDT clamps, which feature quick-adjust jaws to drastically reduce setup time between different profiles. The positioning of these self-motorized clamps is simultaneous, quick, and precise, unlocking a suite of powerful production modes:
1. Standard MAM Function: Allows for the seamless relocation of clamps mid-cycle, moving them out of the tool's path without stopping the program to maximize uptime.
2. Standard MDT (Cutting & Separating) Mode: Ideal for producing multiple nested parts per cycle. A full bar is loaded manually, and the machine then cuts it into sections and performs all machining, including end-milling and notching in a single, uninterrupted cycle.
3. Optional MAB (Bar Feeding) Mode: Suited for continuous production of small components. After the bar is manually loaded, the clamps act as a feeder, automatically advancing the material as it is consumed. Machining and cutting occur at a fixed position, and finished parts are automatically transferred to a waiting conveyor.
Programming
The Mecal Geos-5 offers a versatile range of programming options to suit any workflow. For direct integration with existing industrial CAM software, the controller accepts standard ISO G-code, giving advanced users maximum flexibility. The standard graphical interface is the intuitive “Mecal CAD/CAM3D”.
