The Mecal Ariel-5 MTS is the pinnacle of the Ariel platform, a high-performance 5-Axis CNC Aluminum Profile Machining Centre for the most demanding industrial environments. It combines the long-bed gantry structure and 5-axis capabilities of the Ariel-5 with an upgraded industrial-grade control system and software, delivering increased speed and optimized machine movements for maximum throughput.
The Mecal Ariel-5 MTS is a high-performance 5-Axis CNC Aluminum Profile Machining Centre engineered for the most complex machining tasks. It builds upon the proven gantry platform of the Ariel-5, retaining its robust structure and massive working envelope. The MTS version has the capability of simultaneous 5-axis interpolation and elevates this with significant upgrades to its spindle, control system, and software, resulting in superior accuracy and motion control for advanced applications.
5-Axis Machining Head
The true 5-axis configuration unlocks advanced capabilities, allowing the machine to perform a full range of saw blade cuts (straight, miter, and compound angle), intricate notches, and complex work on the profile ends in a single setup.
Spindle and Tool Changer
The Ariel-5 MTS comes standard with a powerful 18 kW electro-spindle, utilizing an HSK 63 F tool holder system to handle the most demanding machining tasks. A 12-position tool changer is mounted on the gantry for efficient tool swaps.
Clamping
The Mecal Ariel-5 MTS comes standard with advanced MDT clamps. These high-performance, self-motorized clamps are driven by precision servo motors, providing the secure holding and flexibility required for sophisticated, automated bar processing functions such as:
1. Cutting and Separating Mode
A full bar is manually loaded, cut into multiple sections, and fully machined in one cycle (including end machining and notching). Finished parts remain clamped and are manually unloaded at the end. Ideal for producing multiple nested parts per cycle.
2. Bar Feeding Mode (MAB)
The bar is manually loaded; clamps act as feeders, advancing the bar as material is consumed. Machining and cutting occur at a fixed position. Finished small parts are automatically transferred to a conveyor. Suitable for continuous production of small components.
Programming and Control
The key distinction of the MTS model is its upgraded industrial-grade control system. It comes standard with the advanced MeSoft 2.0 CAD/CAM software, which offers a suite of powerful tools, including advanced machining strategies, optimized tool paths, and increased machine speed to reduce cycle times and maximize productivity.
