For workshops where floor space is at a premium but complex machining capabilities are essential, the Taurus provides the perfect solution. Built with a lighter, agile design and housed within a fully enclosed structure for safety and cleanliness, it delivers exceptionally fast and precise performance.

Full 5-Axis Capability

The Taurus inherits the advanced machining capabilities of larger 5-axis platforms. Its powerful 5-axis head, equipped with a 350 mm diameter saw blade, can perform a full range of compound cuts (straight, miter, and compound angle), intricate notches, complex work on the profile ends, and bar processing. This brings a new level of single-setup machining potential to a compact format.

Optimized Capacity

The Taurus is engineered for speed and efficiency on small to medium-sized profiles. It features a robust clamping system with a capacity of up to 300 mm, providing a secure hold on a wide variety of extrusions for high-speed milling, drilling, and cutting operations.

Clamping

The Mecal Taurus comes standard with advanced MDT clamps. These self-motorized clamps are driven by high-precision absolute encoder servo motors, which enable rapid positioning and sophisticated bar processing functions for automated production: MDT (Cutting & Separating Mode) and MAB (Bar Feeding Mode)

Programming

Programming is handled through the intuitive “Mecal CAD/CAM3D” interface, which simplifies the setup of complex 5-axis jobs. For users with the most advanced programming needs, the system can be upgraded with the optional MeSoft 2.0 CAD/CAM package. An optional STEP/IGES driver "CADLink" is also available for seamless integration with third-party 3D design files.

1. MDT (Cutting & Separating Mode)

Ideal for producing multiple nested parts per cycle. A full bar is loaded manually, and the machine then cuts it into sections and performs all machining—including end-milling and notching

2. MAB (Bar Feeding Mode)

Suited for continuous production of small components. After the bar is manually loaded, the clamps act as a feeder, automatically advancing the material as it is consumed. Machining and cutting occur at a fixed position, and finished parts are automatically transferred to a waiting conveyor.
