The Mecal Argus is a robust double mitre saw for aluminum profiles, featuring a back-to-front linear blade feed for processing architectural aluminum. Its cutting heads are designed to tilt outward to 22.5°, making it a precise and efficient solution for common angled cuts. The Argus is available with 500 mm or 550 mm blades and can be configured with either standard pneumatic tilting or a 3-axis servo-driven system for full angular control.
General
The Mecal Argus is a double miter saw designed for the high-precision cutting of aluminum profiles. Built on a rigid electro-welded steel base, it features a stationary left cutting head and a motorized right head for accurate positioning. It is available in 4, 5 and 6-meter versions, with longer lengths available on demand, and includes a software function for oversize cuts up to approximately twice the machine's stated capacity.
The Argus utilizes a back-to-front linear blade feed, a motion that allows architectural profiles to be processed while resting on an unexposed surface, protecting visible finishes and allowing better clamping possibilities. The blade feed itself is driven by a hydro-pneumatic cylinder for a smooth and powerful cutting stroke.
The machine is defined by its outward-tilting cutting heads, which are ideal for a wide range of standard cutting applications like window sashes. The standard configuration features pneumatic tilting to fixed outward angles, with intermediate angles set using manual mechanical stops. For more advanced control, an optional 3-axis servo-driven system allows the heads to tilt automatically to any angle within the outward range.
