CNC profile machining center | MECAL GIANOS

Thanks to the 150m/min X axis rapid speed and the dual zone, the “Gianos” is the most performant compact CNC machining centre of Mecal’s range. It features 4 axis (X, Y, Z, A), 8.5 kW electro-spindle, 11 tools magazine and automatic clamp positioning system. The “Gianos” has been designed to work on aluminum, alloys and light gage steel. It is an ideal solution for high production of aluminum windows, light fixtures, automotive parts and other complex aluminum extrusion processing.

GENERAL

Mecal Gianos is a 4 axes vertical spindle profile CNC machining centre. The machine can work with aluminum extrusions, as well as vinyl extrusions, light alloy and light steel profiles. It comes as standard with an 8.5 kW, 24000 rpm electro-spindle with HSK F-63 tool holder system and a 11 tool magazine even if additional tool magazines are available as optionals to increase the tool capacity.

The machine features two independent zones each with a rotating beam equipped with a clamping system to properly hold the extrusions during the machining process. The two zones independent loading/unloading, while the spindle is still running resulting in an higher output.

The Mecal Gianos allows linear and circular interpolation on 3 axes (X,Y,Z).  The A axis is the beam rotation on any angle within ±125° around X-axis. This enables machining on any surface generated by the rotation of the work-piece with standard tools

Using a drill, milling bit or a tap, it is possible to work on 3 sides of the profile, also the machine can perform end-milling operations by using milling cutter.

The 2 pneumatically operated reference stops are standard and located on both ends of each rotating beam. The operator can load in the machine a total of 4 parts.

CLAMPING

The Gianos profile CNC machining centre is equipped with self motorized (MMI) clamps capable to go to calculated positions moving simultaneously, independently and rapidly. The MMI clamps also feature the MAM function consisting of clamp relocation during the working cycle.

PROGRAMMING

Programming both with Mecal ISO programming or Mecal CAD3D graphic CAD/CAM software are standard. Optional STEP/IGES driver CADLink is available for companies prefer to work with a third party 3D design software.

  • Vertical spindle CNC machining centre
  • Axes drive system is consisting of a servo controller and a brushless DC servomotor. Position is tracked by an incremental encoder integrated in the drive motor
  • Work pieces clamps are mounted on two (2) servo controlled rotating beams.
  • The machine is equipped with two rotating beams each of them complete with two “zero point” reference stops. Each beam can be used independently (two working zones) or moving both at the same time (longer single working zone)
  • Featuring two independent lifting safety doors, the Gianos can be used in a pendulum operation, unloading and reloading one zone, while the other is still machining.
  • Work piece clamps slide on precision linear guide rails
  • Working area can be divided in four zones
  • By using the disc cutter, it is possible to carry out end-milling operations on both the ends of the work piece
  • Milling operations are performed with linear and circular interpolation of the X-Y-Z axes
  • Pneumatically operated flipping reference stops
  • Automatic and fast tool changing by using a tool magazine located in the middle of the machine in an embedded compartment. It can store 10 tools for milling, threading, end-milling as well as angle aggregates. Additional tool holders available as optionals.
  • Tool cooling via Minimum Quantity Lubrication
  • All slide ways and ball screws are lubricated through an automatic central lubrication system
  • Frontal safety door with increased visibility of the machining area
  • Pre-arranged for chip collector trays

  • Electrospindle air cooled, HSK F-63, 24000 rpm, 8.5kW
  • Tool magazine with 11 tools capacity
  • 4+4 pneumatic clamps
  • 2+2 flipping stops, pneumatically operated
  • Drawers for chips collection
  • Startup tool kit
  • Electronic NC interface with a PC running on Windows 10 OS.
  • CAD CAM 3D Graphic software

  • Max working length: 7223mm (23.7')
  • Oversized machining capability up to twice the max. work-piece length capacity: 14446mm (47.4')
  • Spindle power: 8.5kW
  • Spindle rotation speed variably up to 24000 rpm
  • Tool clamping system is HSK F-63
  • 11 positions tool magazine
  • Standard clamp width: 250mm (9.8")
  • Optional clamp width: 300mm (11.8")
  • Number of clamps in the standard configuration: 4+4 clamps that can be controlled in two independent groups
  • Beam rotation axis that allows the work-piece to be rotated within 250° (±125°) around X-axis
  • Electronic NC interface with a PC running on Windows 10 OS

  • Automatic Positioning Clamps (MMI). Each clamp bar is equipped with a brushless DC motor-reducer assembly. Therefore, each clamp bar becomes an independent axis controlled by CNC unit. The program will display the locations for the clamps. With the confirmation of the operator, clamps are positioned simultaneously.
